Many pelagic longline fisheries targeting species such as swordfish commonly use single-use chemical glow sticks to attract fish during operations. ProGlow is a durable, reusable, compact LED light device designed principally for swordfish fisheries as an eco-friendly alternative to disposable chemical glow sticks. ProGlow reduces plastic waste by eliminating the need for single-use plastics without compromising fishing effectiveness.

Built to withstand harsh ocean conditions, ProGlow is designed for repeated use over multiple fishing seasons, cutting down waste and costs. ProGLow is rated to 500 metres and automatically turns off when not immersed.
ProGlow is tiny and weighs just 17 grams underwater, but the LED technology delivers bright, consistent light, in variable colour variants that exceeds the performance of chemical light sticks.
Chemical light sticks cost $0.25 each and as comprise as much as 10% of the overall costs of a fishing trip. Though initially a higher investment, ProGlow’s longevity and reusability offer significant savings by reducing the need to purchase disposable sticks every season.
